Ingredients

  • 500 g Lean Ground Beef (you could use any type of ground meat for this)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 head Cauliflower chopped into florets
  • 2 Sweet Potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 Onion chopped
  • 10 Mushrooms sliced (or more, you can add however much you like)
  • 1 can or 1 cup Peas
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 tsp Tumeric
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 big pinch Asafoetida/Hing
  • 1/2 cup - 1 cup Water (you might need more than this)
  • For the Paste:
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 large Tomato

Instructions

  • Heat up a skillet and start browning the Ground Beef. Season the meat with the Salt, Onion Powder, and Garlic Powder. Cook till all the meat is browned.
  • In a separate large skillet, heat up the Coconut Oil. Throw in the chopped Onion and Cumin Seeds and Mushrooms. Cook till the Onions are translucent and Mushrooms are browned.
  • Add the Tumeric, Red Chilli Powder, and Garam Masala and stir. Cook for a min or two.
  • Use a mortar and pestle and make a paste with the Garlic, Ginger and Tomato. You can also use a blender for this. Cook until the paste starts to dry out.
  • Add the Sweet Potato and some water, about 1/2 cup. Stir and cover for about 5 min.
  • Add the Cauliflower, a bit more water and cover again. Cook until the Cauliflower and Sweet Potatoes are fork tender.
  • Add the Peas and the Ground Beef and a little water depending on how you like it. If you want some gravy, add more water, for less gravy, add less water. You get the picture...
  • Season with Salt and Pepper to taste and eat!

Notes

I ate this all on its own, but you could eat it with Roti or Naan if you think you need more carbs in your life. I definitely don't!
